Separate destination tracking from canonical product identity.
The clean product URL should remain the canonical address used in internal links, structured data identifiers, XML sitemaps, and organic indexing. Merchant feeds can append approved tracking parameters for campaign attribution, but the landing page should declare the clean canonical when the tracked URL does not represent different content.
Avoid feed systems that generate an entirely different path or hostname for the same product unless the architecture intentionally supports it. Cross-domain or alternate-host product URLs create unnecessary matching and canonical complexity.
Ensure tracking parameters do not persist into every subsequent internal link after the shopper lands. Session-wide propagation can manufacture large duplicate crawl spaces.
Compare feed link, final redirected URL, page canonical, structured-data URL, and sitemap URL during QA. They should converge on the same product identity even if campaign parameters are present at entry.
If a feed requires mobile/app deep links or alternate experiences, define the relationship explicitly and verify the web canonical remains stable.
Monitor Search Console for parameterized product URLs being indexed unexpectedly. That usually indicates inconsistent canonical/internal-link behavior rather than a feed problem alone.
Attribution can use parameters; product identity should remain one durable canonical URL.
