There is no universal review count that guarantees local rankings. Review quantity, recency, quality, platform policies, category competition, and the broader business profile all matter.
1. Benchmark the local competitive set rather than using a national number. A niche professional service and a restaurant may have very different norms.
2. Build a steady review-request process tied to real customer milestones instead of running one large burst.
3. Ask every eligible customer consistently and avoid incentives or gating that violate platform policies.
4. Respond professionally to reviews, especially when the response can clarify service or resolve a concern.
5. Track review velocity, rating distribution, and conversion impact in addition to total count.
6. Diversify reputation across relevant industry platforms where customers genuinely research the business.
The goal is credible, ongoing customer evidence. A healthy review profile should look like the natural result of serving customers well over time.
