A page is over-optimized when search targeting begins to reduce clarity, credibility, or usefulness. The common pattern is repetition without additional information.
1. Read the page without looking at SEO fields. If phrases feel awkward or unnaturally repeated, simplify them.
2. Look for headings that exist only to repeat the keyword instead of organizing the customer journey.
3. Check image alt text. Describe the image; do not turn every alt attribute into a keyword list.
4. Review internal links for repetitive exact-match anchors and unnecessary links to the same destination.
5. Compare sections for redundancy. Repeating the same service/location statement in multiple blocks is not deeper coverage.
6. Watch conversion metrics. If users bounce, skip content, or fail to act because the copy sounds mechanical, the page is not optimized in a meaningful sense.
Strong SEO copy is usually invisible as “SEO copy.” It reads like a page written by a business that understands the customer, the service, and the market.
