Separate the agreed operating plan from new opportunity requests and give every request a visible status, impact, and owner.
1. Define included service areas, content volume, technical support, reporting, and approval responsibilities in the original scope.
2. Maintain a backlog for new ideas instead of immediately turning every request into production work.
3. Estimate whether each request replaces a planned task, uses an included allowance, or requires additional budget.
4. Use quarterly planning to reprioritize markets/services based on performance and business changes.
5. Document client-caused blockers such as delayed access or approvals so delivery expectations remain clear.
6. Show how scope changes affect timeline and outcomes instead of simply saying no.
Scope control works best when priorities are visible. Clients are more receptive to tradeoffs when they can see the roadmap they are changing.
