Social media and local SEO influence different discovery behaviors. Social activity can support awareness, proof, and content distribution, but it does not replace crawlable local pages, GBP optimization, citations, reviews, and search architecture.
1. Use local SEO to capture people actively searching for a service, product, or nearby provider.
2. Use social media to maintain visibility with audiences who are not searching at that moment.
3. Repurpose project proof, FAQs, reviews, and educational content across both channels.
4. Send social visitors to strong landing pages and track assisted conversions.
5. Use customer questions and post engagement as research for new website content.
6. Keep business identity and offers consistent across profiles and the website.
The channels work best together: search captures intent; social builds familiarity and distributes proof. Neither should be forced to do the other’s job.
