A pre-launch checklist should prove that the public site is crawlable, indexable, canonical, measurable, and mapped correctly from any previous URLs.
1. Remove staging noindex directives, HTTP authentication, and robots rules that should not reach production.
2. Verify canonical URLs, HTTPS, preferred hostname, trailing-slash rules, and redirect behavior.
3. Check titles, descriptions, H1s, structured data, Open Graph data, and primary content across each template.
4. Generate XML sitemaps containing only canonical indexable URLs and reference them from robots.txt where appropriate.
5. Map old URLs to relevant new URLs and test redirects for chains, loops, and wrong destinations.
6. Validate analytics, forms, call tracking, Search Console, and conversion events before marketing traffic arrives.
7. Run mobile/performance tests and crawl the production site after DNS switch to compare with staging.
Launch is the easiest time to catch sitewide mistakes. A one-hour technical validation can prevent weeks of indexing cleanup.
